Groups from area churches walk for local and national charity this afternoon. The annual crop walk began at Zane’s Landing and followed the three-mile bike trail up and back. Over 200 people participated in the Church World Service event. Organizers said most of the money goes to charity projects around the world, but 25 percent of it will stay in Muskingum County, going to Christ’s Table and the Salvation Army. Each participant found sponsors to donate money for the six-mile walk. Last year, over ten thousand dollars was raised for projects like bringing clean water to parts of Africa. Co-chairman Jerry Sutton said the group wanted to raise over $12,000 this year. Trophies and t-shirts were given out to the top money raisers
