As mentioned before, deer-gun season opens today, an event that Franklin County authorities say could be detrimental but also beneficial. Hindering because it could lead to more false alarms along the stretch of highway where eleven shootings have been reported, but on the other hand, the surplus of hunters out combing the area for deer could very well turn up some new leads or evidence in the case. Police responded by car and helicopter yesterday when shots were fired from a field just south of Interstate 270 in Obetz. Authorities say it was a hunter testing the sight on his rifle. Authorities have no suspects in the shootings this year along I-270. Two of the bullets came from the same gun including one that killed a Washington Court House woman last week. Sheriff's Deputy Steve Martin says he's asking hunters to use cell phones to report any suspicious activity along the highway.
