An area State Senator is resigning to take a job with the state Natural Resources Department.
Senator Jim Carnes, a Saint Clairsville republican, will become deputy director for resource conservation at the Department of Natural Resources.
Carnes was appointed to the Senate in 1995 and would have been forced out by term limits at the end of next year.
The 61-year-old Carnes is a former chairman of the Senate’s energy, natural resources and environmental committee as well as the Senate finance committee.
