A former member of the Ohio House is returning to Columbus to represent Southeast Ohio in the Senate.
A Senate Republican Screening Committee recommended Joy Padgett of Coshocton to replace Senator James Carnes, who is joining the Ohio Department of Natural Resources as a deputy director.
Carnes cannot run for re-election this year because of term limits. Padgett is expected to be appointed by the Senate’s 21 other Republicans next week. She currently serves on the Governor’s Office of Appalachia.
