There’s a nip in the air in the Zanesville City Jail that has nothing to do with what appears to be a faulty furnace.
Police Chief Eric Lambes says there is a problem with the furnace and sometimes the temperature in the jail reaches 50-degrees. That’s a far cry from its normal setting of 65-degrees.
Some inmates from the jail have contacted WHIZ News about the cold conditions, saying they would like the situation looked into. The Chief says they have been having problems with the furnace in the jail for a couple of months.
He says inmates are getting extra blankets while the problem is being fixed. Chief Lambes says he has no plans to move the inmates while the problem is corrected.
