With the worst snowfall of the year so far, local residents are left having to brace the cold and dig their way out.
But what you may not think of when you are their shoveling is how it affects your health.
Joseph Stein, Chairman of the Genesis Emergency Services says when people are out there they forget how long they’re doing this activity and it can be much more strenuous than what they normally do. As a result they could end up with breathing problems or heart attacks.
Oftentimes people overlook the real strain shoveling can have on your back.
Stein also says to keep an eye out for how long you spend shoveling so you don’t develop problems from cold exposure.
