With another day off from school area kids took to the slopes today to enjoy everyone’s favorite winter pastime—sledding!
But one thing kids forget when they hit the slopes is their helmet.
Alan Ranck, Assistant Park Manager of the Dillon State Park says, “ I’ve heard a lot of people trying to emphasize safety and helmets are an up and coming thing for kids whether they’re on bicycles or here with the sledding. It’s always a good idea.”
While sledding can be a fun activity for both kids and parents it’s important to keep in mind it can also be dangerous.
Ralph Hill the Operations Manager of Community Ambulance says, “ if you get a nasty bump to the head it could cause internal injuries to the brain which could cause a lot of problems. The helmet is a big yes for everything to protect from injuries, lacerations, etc.”
While most kids probably don’t think wearing a helmet is a “cool” thing to do..it could save your life or prevent a severe head injury.
