Family and friends gather today to remember staff Sergeant Lester Kinney the second of Zanesville, who was killed while overseas in Iraq.
27-year-old Kinney, also known as Buddy, was one of three people killed when a roadside bomb exploded.
While Kinney was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia locally a memorial service was held today at the South Zanesville United Methodist Church.
Jim Perdue, Kinney’s step-uncle, says he died doing something he was proud of an today was an appropriate day for the service to be held.
Senator Mike Dewine and Congressman Bob Ney also attended today’s memorial service.
Kinney is survived by his wife Marisa.
