The Zanesville Police Department is investigating the discovery of a homemade bomb that exploded late Sunday night.

Police were called to the 500 block of Spangler Avenue around 11:00 Sunday night after a report of a gunshot.

Investigators found what called a “mcgyver bomb”. That is a homemade device that includes a soda bottle, some type of cleaning fluid and foil. It then chemically interacts and explodes.

Police found two devices and one of them exploded.

No one was hurt. Chief Detective Ric Roush says a 27-year-old Zanesville man is being held in the city jail. No charges have been filed yet in the case.
