Home Grown Food At Harvest Festival
People at Brighton Presbyterian Church are reaping the rewards of their hard work.
In the spring, the church held a plant and seed giveaway. Many in the congregation said their gardens were successful.
"So we invited people to come back bring food from their garden and we will have pork and sides and there is information on putting your garden to bed and planting for next year. So just a way of finishing the gardening season," says Suellen Skinner the Pastor at Brighton Presbyterian Church.
Crafters were invited to sell their home-made products. Information was available for anyone looking for gardening tips for next season. But Pastor Skinner has some tips of her own.
"Start and choose the vegetables you like to eat and don't worry about them being perfect and just get out there and get your hands dirty, because it is good for your mental health," tells Pastor Skinner.
Pastor Skinner says growing your own food is a great way to save money.
