The Zanesville Fire Department will be blocking a portion of 4th Street-in front of its building- tomorrow and Wednesday, as it conducts its annual confined space refresher training.
Chief Dave Lacy says the training is made possible thanks to Cleveland State University, which sends down firefighters from Akron to help put on the training.
"We train and re-train everybody on the department, " says Lacy.
Lacy says it's a classroom setting during the morning, and then crews move outside in the afternoon.
He says the training is extremely important to keep up.
"Because of the complexity of what we're doing here, there's a lot of things going on at the same time. So, it's really important that everybody knows about their safety lines, " says Lacy.
Crews also go over ventilation, respiration, and communication equipment.
