Blood Supplies Dangerously Low
The Muskingum Valley Red Cross says blood supplies at the Regional Lab in Columbus are dangerously low and they need the community members to roll up their sleeves and donate.
The blood bank has less than a day's supply left of A, B and O negative blood.
"It's kind of like cash flow, it goes up and down, but when you've got two types that are low that is extremely difficult to deal with. It's not a crisis, but a call to attention more than anything else and those folks that haven't donate for a while I think maybe it's time," says Dan Hartman, Red Cross executive director.
Hartman says they're most in need of those three blood types, but all donations are always appreciated and needed.
"We need to step-up and as a community taking care of our families we've been very good at that, but I think right now we need to look at what we can do the next couple of weeks to find a blood mobile, roll-up your sleeves and start saving lives," he says.
