Three area health care facilities are getting a financial boost from the state.

State Representative Troy Balderson,(R) Zanesville, says the Ohio Department of Health has awarded more than $645,000  to the Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department, Coshocton Health Department and Genesis Health Care System.

The Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department will use the funds for their Lead Regional Resource Center and will support childhood lead poisoning prevention activities.

The Coshocton County Health Department and Genesis will both use the money for  WIC, a special supplemental nutritional program for low income pregnant women and infant and children up to age five.

Balderson says these are worthwhile programs that become increasingly necessary as the state struggles to regain its footing in this economy.
