A Zanesville man is still in serious condition after a shooting early this morning.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says 36-year old Trever Carson was shot several times in the back after an altercation. It happened just before 1 a.m. this morning at 5971 National Road.

"Carson was transported to a Columbus hospital where he is in serious condition," he said. "At this time it's looking like it's not going to be a life threatening injury, however it is a serious situation at this point."

The sheriff's office has a suspect in mind.

"The suspect in this case is James Scott Harris, he'ss 40 years old also from Zanesville" said Lutz. "He is currently at large and is wanted by the muskingum County Sheriff's Office for questioning in this case."

The office still has more witnesses to speak with and other evidence to look at in reference to the case.

Sheriff Lutz says he cannot release more details at this time.

The case is being reviewed by Muskingum County prosecutor Mike Haddox for possible charges.
