Secrest Auditorium is gearing up for some upcoming holiday performances.
They are designed to not only spread holiday cheer but to help some local organizations.
"It's what the holidays are all about. It's what you do. You give, and we're very proud of that, " says Secrest Auditorium Director, John Kunkle.
The Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra is having a concert this Thursday at 7 p.m., which is free to the public.
"It's always been a dream of Dr. Schumann, the conductor of the symphony, to offer a free holiday concert, and we've been able to do this for a number of years now, which kind of sets the tone for the holidays. There's wonderful music, great musicians, and the sounds you like to hear, " says Kunkle.
Kunkle says doors will open two hours earlier for the show this year, at 5 p.m. for an auction that will help pay for the performance. The auction contains about 100 items, ranging from gym memberships to airline tickets.
Secrest also will be holding another performance next week, titled "The Gifts." It will include singers, dancers, and members of local high school drama clubs. The money from next week's performance will benefit the Muskingum Valley Red Cross.
