State agencies and public services may lose more funding if an Ohio bill does not pass.
The passage of House Bill 318 would delay a final round of planned income tax cuts and fill an $850 million shortfall in the Ohio budget.
Blair Tom of the Muskingum County Library System said libraries will be affected because they are closely tied to education.
"If that isn't filled through this means, then the likely outcome will be deep cuts to education which is a primary partner of public libraries but also local public services that include public libraries," said Tom.
Tom said, if the bill doesn't pass, the Muskingum County Library System will be forced to use levy money in areas not originally planned for.
"In our case, where voters just passed a levy to restore services, hours and staffing, we would be in the position to use those dollars to maintain the additional cuts that come our way,' he said.
Tom said it is important for interested community members to let their senator know this issue is important to them. Letters and emails should be sent to State Senator Jimmy Stewart.
