A McConnelsville company has to pay a penalty for violating the state's hazardous waste law.
In a settlement with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, MIBA Bearings has agreed to pay a fine of more than $31,500.
In a September 2008 inspection the EPA found MIBA had improperly stored four 55-gallon drums of waste without a permit.
They also determined the company failed to properly evaluate the waste, failed to minimize the risk of fire or explosion by properly maintaining the facility, failed to properly label containers of hazardous waste and used oil, and failed to conduct required inspections of tank systems.
The company has since fixed the violations.
MIBA Bearings manufactures diesel engine bearings for railroad and aerospace industries.
