The Longaberger Company announces it's joining forces with another company and will lay-off more than 100 employees.
Beginning January 11, Exel out of Westerville will manage, oversee and direct all operations associated with packaging of customer orders at Longaberger's Customer Fulfillment Center in Frazeysburg.
The company says the 100 employees of the Frazeysburg Center will have the opportunity to work at Exel and will retain their years of service. President of the Longaberger Company Robin Crossman says that Exel is an innovative company whose expertise will bring greater efficiencies to customers.
In addition to the agreement with Exel, Longaberger is taking steps to align its basketmaking production by laying off 125 manufacturing employees. The company says that they have a long practice of reducing work force this time of year and hope to recall those employees at a later date.
Longaberger says fourth quarter sales met expectations fueled by the new National Football League and Collegiate Basket sets.
