The Muskingum County Commissioners are looking toward the future.
The Commissioners held a meet and greet with Plante & Moran employee, David Asker, to discuss consolidating properties.
"It is not a bad idea at this stage to see where we can combine facilities and space," tells Commissioner Bates.
Bates says the idea is only in its preliminary stages and will be discussed further by the commissioners. The commissioners are also wrapping up their budget meetings with department heads. Bates says they made cuts last year and will have to cut more this year because they are worried about 2011.
"Now whether we should be worried about 2011 or not, but we are just taking preliminaries 2011, hopefully we are coming out of the recession so this is why we are preparing the budget and having all these budget hearings," says Bates.
The Commissioners also applied for $2 million in bonds which will work toward funding a fourth floor at the jail.
