The American Red Cross is still helping sort through the devastation in Haiti and providing aide to those that lost everything in the earthquake, and the organization says there has been so many people across the country reaching out to help.
"National has been very overwhelmed right now with the amount of money coming in. The texting alone for Haiti from the cell phones went way beyond anybody's expectations on what they were going to raise for that, " says Marlene Henderson of the Muskingum Valley Red Cross.
Henderson, says people don't realize how lucky they are until they see a natural disaster like this one, and she says local residents are picking up on that and trying to send money for relief efforts.
One local business is also stepping forward and working with the Muskingum Valley Red Cross to support the cause. It's holding a "Help Haiti" relief effort at Terry's Tavern this Saturday from six p.m. to one a.m.
"I think everybody is really interested in helping those people over there after you see different clips on TV and how the kids are. I really believe that people want to help, " says Terry's Tavern Manager, Ernie Riggle.
The event will have food, special drink prices, a DJ, and a 50-50 raffle.
