While kids may be excited to go outside and play in the white stuff, the Zanesville Fire Department is asking parents to keep kids away from the piles of snow growing all across Southeastern Ohio.
Some of the piles are several feet tall.
"I know some of them actually look like an igloo. They're very attractive, but the thing people don't realize is that a lot of those piles of snow are made up of different buckets of snow that have come from the snowfall we've had, and it may not be solidly glued together, " says Fire Chief, Dave Lacy.
So, it can lead to the snow pile collapsing and trapping kids. Lacy says that much weight coming down on you can cause internal injuries or even suffocation.
"With this amount of snow and type of cold weather we have, parents really need to pay attention with what's going on with the children, " says Lacy.
If a child does get stuck in the snow, the fire department will use the same rescue procedures it does for a structure collapse.
