Thursday was the filing deadline for the May 4, 2010 primary.
On Muskingum County ballots there will a five year, 2.5 mill renewal levy for the Muskingum County Home. Residents in Springfield Township will see a 2 mill, five year levy and Dresden will see a 2.8 mill, 10 year bond issue.
"We do have Springfield Township, it's also in renewal. It's for general construction on your roads and bridges and streets. And then we also have the Village of Dresden which will be on the ballot and it's concerning a bond issue and that's acquiring a new fire truck and related equipment," says Chris Hamill, executive director Muskingum County Board of Elections.
There are only a few contested races and they are for seats on the county and state central committees.
"You just never know what you're going to see. We sometimes don't know who all takes out petitions, so therefore we don't know who all is going to file, so you just never know, sometimes it's a surprise," she says.
In the race for the 18th district congressional seat - incumbent Zack Space will face a primary challenger. Nine republicans, inclduing Jeanette Moll of New Concord, will be running in the May primary with hopes of winning and unseating Space in November.
The Board of Elections will meet Monday at 4 p.m. to certify the petitions and officially put the candidates on the May ballot.
