Zanesville Police say prescription drugs may have played a role in an accident that sent one man to the hospital.

William Fiore of New Lexington crashed his white, Ford Escort into a utility pole near Blue Avenue and Adair Avenue around 6:30 pm Sunday. Fiore was taken to the hospital by Community Ambulance, but Officer Brian Swingle says Fiore was conscious. Officer Swingle says Fiore told him he had taken Viocodin Sunday. The utility pole splintered and broke, but Officer Swingle says it does not appear anyone in the area lost power. Officer Swingle says Fiore will be charged with failure to control.
