The Muskingum Family YMCA is gearing up for its annual Strong Kids Campaign.
The Strong Kids Campaign will begin March 1st and hopes to raise $25,000. The money will be used for the Scholarship Assistance Program.
"We always encourage those that give to the campaign to come out and see what your dollars are doing because I think they would be very impressed to see the kids enjoying themselves and learning about responsibility, caring respect and honesty and just having a great time," says Craig Miracle the Executive Director of the Muskingum Family YMCA.
The kick-off for the campaign is Wednesday at the HoneyBaked Ham on Maple Avenue in Zanesville. For each box lunch sold that day, HoneyBaked Ham will contribute $2 to the Strong Kids Campaign. Miracle says all the money stays within our area to help local kids and families.
"It provides families that are working that could not otherwise afford, especially when it comes to our day camp, afford to send their child to childcare or day camp. By providing these funds they can go to work knowing their child is safe, having fun and learning something and their parents can concentrate on work and doing something productive," says Miracle.
Around 800 local children are involved with the Muskingum Family YMCA and Miracle says with in that number, 50% to 60% receive some type of assistance.
