Two local women are beaming after finding out they are 2010 Women in Achievement recipients.
They say the news was surprising. YMCA Executive Director, Craig Miracle, delivered the message in person to each of the nine individuals.
"He said I'm here to congratulate you. I was clueless as to what he was going to do. He said I had won the award. So, it was very shocked and honored. Oh course, I cried, " says recipient Teanna Hrinko.
"It's very humbling. I can think of a thousand other people who deserve it even more. It's really neat when you can see the people who nominated you, " says recipient Connie Quarles.
Quarles says she finds it very important to give back to the community.
"I come from a long history of strong women, my mother, my grandmother, my great aunts, and women that I worked with in church who just always give back to the community. You know, don't forget where you come from and share with others what you've been through to help them along the way," says Quarles.
The women will be honored in front of friends and family at a banquet in April.
