The US Postal Service is moving forward with its plans to cut mail delivery back to five days a week.

The decision was made yesterday that the issue will be presented before Congress. Zanesville Postmaster Steve Williams says he expects there to be a heated debate over the issue. If Congress does follow through with the five-day delivery and passes the measure , Williams says it could go into effect as early as next spring.

The US Postal Service initially brought up the idea as a way to save money. It lost about four billion dollars last year and is headed toward a larger loss this year as more people turn to the Internet as a source of communication.
