More than sixty residents laced up Saturday morning for a run to help local children.
The walk/run wrapped up the month long Strong Kids Campaign put on by the YMCA. The Strong Kids Campaign raises money to fund the YMCA's financial assistance program.
"We will utilize a lot of that goes into assistance during the summer with our camp because we have a lot of folks that are maybe working and having a hard time getting by and we are able to provide that assistance that let's mom and dad go to work knowing their kids are safe and be productive," says Craig Miracle with the YMCA.
The walk/run brings in around $700. The campaign is on target to reach it's $25,000 goal and Miracle says that is great for a program that supports children from all walks of life.
"There is a lot of hard work that goes into it and you know it is always fun when it wraps up because then there is the next project, but it is satisfying knowing we are able to help so many in the community," says Miracle.
In addition to the walk/run, the YMCA, Muskingum County Library and the Literacy Council held an Easter egg hunt for area kids and their families.
