The Muskingum County Center for Seniors plans to feed about 600 people through a program its calling, "Our Meals, Your Wheels."
The program is made possible thanks to 17 thousand dollars in federal stimulus funding, but Executive Director, Terry Dunn, says it will not affect its current "Meals on Wheels" program.
"If they are scheduled to receive weekend frozen meals or evening frozen meals, they will still continue to receive those. These meals are just to try to supplement our congregate program, " says Dunn.
"Our Meals, Your Wheels" will give each person a pack of five frozen meals that they can re-heat at their convenience.
"There are a lot of people who probably eat substandard meals. All of these meals will be 1/3 minimum daily adult requirement. So, they'll meet all their nutritional needs, " says Dunn.
You must be a Muskingum County resident and 60 years or older to sign-up for the program. There will be three sign-up dates on April 14th, 15th, or 16th at the Center for Seniors, where you will be asked to provide proof of residency and age. Then those who qualify will be asked to come back May 14th from nine a.m. to three p.m. to pick up their meals.
