Conditions for severe weather are prime this time of year, and when it strikes, it comes fast and it comes with fury.
"We cannot prevent the bad weather. We teach prevention, prevention, prevention, but we can't prevent it. So, we need to learn to prepare for it, " says Keely Warden of the Muskingum Valley Red Cross.
So, you and your family need to have a plan in place to protect each other.
"Know where your safe spot is if a thunderstorm is coming. Know where your safe spot is if a tornado is coming. Know what radio stations to listen to. Know what to see in the sky, " says Warden.
Warden says it's also important to teach your kids not to be scared during these kinds of situations. They need to be able to react and know what to do.
The Muskingum Valley Red Cross is teaming up with the WHIZ Storm Team staff to put on a Severe Weather symposium. It's at the Colony Square Mall this weekend.
