More than 100 hundred people attended a dinner Thursday night to bring awareness about suicides.

The 6th annual Regional Suicide Awareness Dinner was held at Coburn United Methodist Church in Zanesville.

Last year there were 13 suicides in Muskingum County, and officials say the deaths are preventable if people know of suicide risks and what to do.

Keynote speaker Dr. Wheaton Wood noted that depression is a major medical illness that can affect thoughts, feelings, behavior, mood and physical health, possibly leading to suicide.

Coshocton, Guernsey, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble and Perry counties Suicide Prevention Coalitions can present a Suicide-TALK, to promote the awareness of suicide and steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of suicide.
