Helping Future Moms

One local group wants to celebrate motherhood and help the community grow.

The organization Help Me Grow serves families with children under the age of three. They help kids develop and get them ready for school. Supervisor Heather Rice wants to invite any soon to be moms to a free Mommy To Be Party. It's Wednesday May 19th at 10:30 AM behind Bethesda Hospital in the shelter area. Rice said it's helpful for families expecting their first child.

"They are going to hear all about having a healthy pregnancy and preparing for the baby and what's available for them after the baby comes. Then, there will be a healthy snack available for them to eat and there will be door prizes for the event. It's will be a really fun event," Rice said.

Rice said this is their way of reaching out to the community and enrolling and educating first time parents.

"We provide a lot of information about what to expect during the pregnancy"  Rice said.

Rice says they've had to make budget cuts but the more people they help the less cuts they will have to make.
