If you plan on traveling this holiday weekend, you will notice more cruisers on the roadways.
The Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says it will add two or three cruisers to each shift, and troopers will be monitoring Interstate 70 along with the main routes.
"We're still going to be looking for aggressive driving, following too close, and the speeds. In addition to that, the combination will be "Click It or Ticket." there will be zero tolerance on seatbelts, and strict enforcement on the speeds, especially in construction zones, " says Lt. Steven Rine.
Rine says the idea is not to ruin people's travel plans, but get them safely to and from their destinations.
"Because memorial weekend has been statistically one of the most dangerous traveled holidays. So, we want to be sure that we don't have any traffic fatalities. If they are involved in a traffic crash that their belts are on, " says Rine.
The Zanesville Post will also be teaming up with the Muskingum County Sheriff's office this Saturday. So, you can expect to see both black and white cruisers on Interstate 70 for a few hours. It is using its aviation resources as well.
