For downtown Zanesville, it's a chance for the community to enjoy local artwork, music, and food.
Galleries in the downtown area will be displaying their art as usual this Friday, but Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project, also known as Z.A.A.P., is getting the community involved.
"Each member has donated an original piece of artwork, will be on display here Friday night. It will be here for one month and the public can come in and vote on the pieces that they like and the top twelve will then be chosen to put on a calendar that we'll sell for next year," says Z.A.A.P. trustee, Gary Graham.
All pieces will be on display through the first Friday in July. People will have the opportunity to place their votes for the calendar until then. In addition, there will be a silent auction on all of the pieces.
"They come here any Thursday through Sunday, 1 to 5 and purchase a ticket to do the voting and/or to leave a bid for the silent auction," says Graham.
President of Z.A.A.P., Debbie Beckert, is the Artist of the Month, and will have her work on display in the windowns of the Z.A.A.P. gallery.
