An Olympic Gold Medalist and a Big Ten Champion are teaching kids about track and about faith.

At the Godspeed Track and Field Camp at Zanesville High School track Olympian Derrick Adkins said he's not just there to talk about track.

"We love sports but we do make a religious connect to our faith in Christianity and so we make correlation's in what it means to pursue our goals in life and in our faith as well as our goals in sports," Adkins said.

He said they teach kids about track but also about character and principles through sports. Ohio State University's Big Ten Decathlon Champion Patrick Woods said he volunteers to show them the high jump but also talk about Christianity.

"It's just a good feeling to kinda help i guess with the kids you know there's a spiritual message as well for the young kids," Woods said.

The three day camp is for all age groups from 2 to 18. It'll wrap up with a track meet Saturday June 19th.
