The battle of the bands is back in Zanesville.
Friday is the second annual Battle of the Bands at Armco Park formerly known as Park Central. Area rock bands will compete for cash prizes.
"They will be showcased for their musical abilities, composition, and originality of music," Elaine Joseph Coordinator Zanestock Battle of the Bands said.
The grand prize is $300 plus a $100 gift certificate made possible by CA House of Music, Lepi & Associates, and Orthodontist Dr. David Grosshandler.
Joseph said it's fun because the crowd and a panel of judges get to vote. She said for some of these young musicians these bands are their business.
"They have cost when they go to a gig. There's gas and equipment, so they do run small business. That's another reason why we like to support them," Joseph said.
Last's years winner, "Obliged" will be the feature band this year but won't be competing. The bands start at 4p.m. July 30th. The admission is $5.00 and the proceeds go back into the park.
