Homeless animals in Muskingum County will continue to get the care they need.
The annual Animal Shelter Society Auction was held Saturday evening, which is the shelters largest fundraiser of the year.
"We're an adoptable, no-kill shelter, which means that anything that's adoptable, healthy, and not aggressive is never euthanized for lack of space. If we didn't have these funds, we would not be able to do that, " says Executive Director, Larry Hostetler.
Hostetler says the animals would have no where else to go if they shelter didn't exist.
"They need us there to take care of them and provide care for them until they can find a forever home, " says Hostetler.
Proceeds go directly to the shelter's general fund, which helps with operational costs. The event typically generates between $20,000 and $30,000 each year.
