Emergency crews are saying backed-up traffic from the Airport Road exit caused two semi trucks to collide in the westbound lanes on Interstate 70.
It happened about five miles east of the downed power line, near the Norwich exit.
Lieutenant Mark Ross of the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office says the one driver ran into the semi truck in front of him. Both drivers were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with what Ross is calling minor injuries.
The real problem though was a gas leak. New Concord Fire Chief, Brent Gates, says the majorly damaged semi truck had two full tanks of diesel fuel and about 100 to 150 gallons spilled onto the roadway and into the median. Gates says the incident was considered a large hazard and crews applied material to soak up the liquid.
The westbound lanes remained closed for almost five hours as crews worked to clean up the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
