It's hard to admit, but winter will be here before we know it.
The Salvation Army will be hosting it's annual Coats For Kids campaign October 7th-8th. They are asking the community to donate extra coats they may have.
"Were' still in need of coats, especially the middle sized kids. So anybody that would like to volunteer to hop on with that, just bring a coat in," said Shelter Manager Joyce Krouskoupf.
Last year, the Salvation Army gave away 1,300 coats, helping out 800 families. Krouskoupf says they collect coats all year long in preparation.
"If they need cleaned up, we clean them, we keep them stored, and then we know exactly how many coats we need, but we want to have the kids ready before it gets too cold," she said.
Pre-applications are being accepted for those interested in receiving a coat. All coat donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army.
