The Zanesville City School district is installing new, electronic message boards outside all its school buildings.
They will run off a transformer that will be installed near each of the 8 X 10 structures.
"It's relatively inexpensive to operate because it's low maintenance and low voltage. The lights in them are all, each one is their own little sensor. If one gets busted, just replace it and go on, " says Darrell Lear of Zanesville City Schools.
The message boards will run throughout the day and will be turned off at night. It will allow the schools to post events and cancellations to keep in better contact with students, parents, and the community.
"We send out a lot of paperwork and a lot of things going on through the schools, through the days, weeks, or months. I see it'll save us where we won't have to send out as much paperwork because everything is going to be digitized, and we have out own webpage. It's up and running, " says Lear.
Lear says the message boards are top-of-the-line technology, and Zanesville City Schools is one of the few districts in the area who will have them.
