The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority is moving from a construction phase to a marketing phase.

Executive Director, Mike Jacoby, presented a preliminary look at a new website that will be readily available to the public within the next few weeks.

"We hope we are found more quickly and easily by businesses that may be looking to invest and create jobs," says Jacoby.

The intent of the website is to tell our area's story. It will provide information on the labor force, market access, a building inventory, operating costs, the tax environment, photos, and maps.

Project funding in the amount of $7,000 came from both AEP Ohio and the Muskingum Growth Partnership, which is part of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce.

Jacoby also shared a concern the Ohio EPA is having with the Eastpointe Business Park at Wednesday morning's meeting. A lot of dirt has been moved on the property so re-seeding was needed. Jacoby says some of the grass seed didn't root well, which is causing some erosion issues.

"I needed some direction from them, exactly what they wanted to keep them happy. They walked me through it, and it's some fairly minor stuff that we should be able to take care of easily," says Jacoby.

Jacoby says the Port Authority will be hiring a company shortly to re-seed the property, reshape a ditch, and put in a rock-check dam.
