Recycling is picking up here in Muskingum County.
Officials from the Muskingum County Recycling Center met with County Commissioners on Thursday to discuss updates. It has been reported that there has been a 20% increase in recycling here in Muskingum County.
"I think more people are paying attention to recycling so these bins are relatively full and the update here that was given to us today the amount of collection has been pretty phenomena," said County Commissioner Jerry Lavy.
He says the center tries to be mindful of drop-off sites which are continuing to be added to high activity areas.
"The EPA is mandating that we get some more sites put in for trailers for recycling, so what we're going to do is add three more recycling trailers that will be dispersed throughout the county," said Lavy.
He says the center has brought in more revenue since last year because the recycled materials are being sold for more.
