Soldiers from our area are being honored this weekend in Zanesville.
The public is invited to attend a ceremony at the Secrest Auditorium to honor the the 660th Movement Control Team of the Army Reserves. The soldiers returned from an 11 month mission in Iraq this past March.
"The General for the Army Reserve has awarded flags and other decorations for these soldiers and they will be having them presented to them on Sunday," said Unit Commander Dennis Morris.
Morris says after the ceremony, the public will be able to personally meet with the soldiers. He says it's important show support.
"Fortunately we learned from our mistakes in Vietnam that the troops need to feel appreciated whether they are there for a month, a year or year and a half, it's very important that you show that you appreciate the work that they do," he said.
Seating will take place at 1:45 p.m. and the actual ceremony will begin at 2:00 p.m. this Sunday.
