A local non-profit organization prepares to say goodbye to their leader of five years.
Anna Oertel has been director of the Alfred S. Carr Center since January of 2006. Upon accepting a position with the Sandusky Area County Community Foundation, she will spend two more weeks at the Carr Center. Oertel tells us how the center has impacted her.
"Every day the people that we interact with make your day way more than you do theirs and learning from everybody I work with, the staff the board, has been wonderful and I'll always take it with me," says Oertel.
The Carr Center board has selected local retired businessman John Hajjar to serve as interim director while they search for a permanent candidate.
"I'm looking forward to continue the fine work that's going on here and just let everyone do their own thing. As I've said to several of them, I'm here to help steer the ship during this important interim period, and I expect them to keep paddling because they're doing a great job," says Hajjar.
He will begin at the Carr Center on Monday. Oertel's last day will be November 3.
