The two New Bakery plants in Zanesville have a new contract in place. General Manager Sam McLaughlin says on Saturday the company and members of the Bakers and Confectionaries Union Local 57 reached agreement on a new four year collective bargaining agreement. It is retroactive to 2009. The new deal included a 35 cent pay raise both this year and next year. It also includes a one time 300 dollar signing bonus and the same health care coverage as all other New Bakery employees. McLaughlin says the deal also includes employee continued participation in the union pension fund at the same benefits level. He says he is hopeful the employees are satisfied and he considers it a fair deal. Union Local 57 Financial Secretary-Treasurer Vester Newsome says the employees are satisfied with the new deal which remains in effect until 2013. The two sides have been working on this deal for 18 months..
