It's our chance as a community to honor all of those who have served and continue to serve our country.
Veterans, scout troops, and others will take part in this years' Veterans Day parade in Zanesville. This Saturday, 112 floats will march off at 10 a.m., including the annual Grand Marshall float that honors families of those on active duty, the K-9 float, and a brand new one that honors Vietnam veterans.
"It's not for the veterans, it's to recognize the veterans. It's so hard to get people to come out. If these people standing on the street would realize how much that meant to the participants, the streets would be absolutely packed," says Bud Johnson, parade chairman.
Johnson urges people to come out and honor all of our veterans and support the organizations who are taking part.
"It's going to give the people that's riding on the float the chance to see that yes, there's people in this country that really care about what we did."
The parade will begin at Secrest Auditorium to Shinnick, to 6th Street to Main Street and then back to Secrest.
If you can't make it on Saturday, WHIZ will be broadcasting the parade on WHIZ-TV Tuesday, November 9 at 7 p.m., and again on Veterans Day at noon.
