Bikers are revving up for a good cause, despite the cold weather.
Rushing Wind Biker Church hosted its 14th Annual Motorcyclists for Kids Toy Ride Saturday afternoon in the Colony Square Mall parking lot. There 150 bikes on display and more than 200 people turned out to raise money for the Salvation Army. The local pastor says the church works with the organization to help underpiriveleged children in the tri-county area.
"It has been a struggle because of the economy for the Salvation Army they've had about 1,100 applications but we're here with the biker community to help meet the needs and be able to supply toys for these children," said Pastor Michael McGuire of the Rushing Wind Biker Church.
With the holiday season approaching, he encourages others to make donations. Following the event, the bikers were escorted by police to the Salvation Army where the festivities continued.
