With temperatures plunging below freezing at night, it's prompting many of us to turn our heat on, but not all of us can afford to do so.
There is help out there though so people won't go cold this winter. The Home Energy Assistance Program, also known as HEAP, is launching its Winter Crisis Program, which will continue through March 31st. It assists low-income families and the elderly with their heating costs. 187,000 households applied for help last year, and the program has $132 million to work with this year.
