A couple in Zanesville welcome a big bundle of joy to their home.
At 14lbs 1oz we do mean big. Trisha and Jeromy Moore welcomed their son Ethan Thursday and the staff at Genesis Healthcare say they believe he's the biggest born at the hospital ever.
"When they pulled him out they asked if I had Jim Tressel's number on speed dial," joked Ethan's Father Jeromy.
"We had a mild amount of difficulty getting the shoulders out," explained Dr. Robert Aepli the staff obstetrician. "The baby is quite large overall. He was 23 inches in length as well."
Dr. Aepli said that sometimes the cause of babies this large is maternal diabetes, but Trisha's test results were negative for the disease. Ethan will be monitored by staff for his blood sugar, but as for now all signs are pointing to him being a healthy boy and his 4-year-old sister Emily couldn't be prouder.
"She won't let anybody mess with him," said Jeromy. "She wants to hold him and we put him in her lap and she said he's too big get him off!"
Mother and son will be released from the hospital this weekend as they're both under observation at this time. As for plans for Ethan's future, Dad said he may have a football career ahead of him.
