Festival of Trees brings a huge success to the community.
With the end of Festival of Trees this past Friday, Tom Poorman, President of Zanesville Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce, says the event was nothing less than terrific. The turn out on auction day involved large amounts of bidding and buying that further proved this event's accomplishment.
"We raised over 42,000 dollars, and last year we raised just over 36, 000, so that was a nice increase especially in this economy. It clearly points to the generosity of this community," said Poorman.
The money raised from Festival of Trees will be used year round. The proceeds will go towards helping economic development programs; small businesses being one of the main factors.
"We have an aggressive governmental relations program, where we are working on pro-business legislation and pro-business issues, and this is funding the supports this program as well," said Poorman.
And because of this year's great success, Poorman says the community can expect the same hometown pride theme next year.
