With the help of The American Red Cross, people are reminded to send holiday mail for our heroes.
For the 4th year in a row, Pitney Bowes and The American Red Cross are teaming up to collect cards that will be sent out to U.S. military service members, veterans, and their families around the world. Once the cards are mailed to the one main address in Maryland, Pitney Bowes will ship them out at no charge.
"When it gets there, it will be sorted and delivered to Red Cross places all over the world, Walter Reed Medical Center is where some of them go, over to Germany, to hospitals over there, basically to any military function type base around the world," said Muskingum Valley Red Cross Director of Preparedness and Response Julie Davis.
With the 69th anniversary of Pearl Harbor today, Davis reminds the community to keep in mind our heroes during this holiday season.
"A lot of times a lot of our veterans feel like they are forgotten, especially at holiday time, you know we all like to be a little more giving at holiday time and to thank people for what they are doing for us, thank those veterans who maybe have sacrificed a lot," said Davis.
Cards must be postmarked no later than December 10th.
